Before You Open the Box: Preparation Checklist

What You Need Ready

Step 1: Inspect the Outer Box (2 minutes)

Before cutting anything, walk around the box and check for:

• Crush damage — dents, tears, punctures, or water stains on the cardboard
• Tape integrity — has the box been opened and re-taped?
• Label accuracy — is your address correct?

Step 2: Open the Outer Carton (5 minutes)

Step 5: Remove Protective Wrapping (5 minutes)

Carefully remove any plastic wrapping, foam padding, or fabric covers from the doll. Watch for:

• Zip ties — often used to secure limbs in place during shipping. Cut these with scissors, never pull them off.
• Tape on the body — some manufacturers use protective tape over sensitive areas like areolas, nipples, or detailed finger sculpting. Peel off slowly, at an angle, not straight up.
• Plastic film — may leave a slight static residue. A wipe-down with warm water and mild soap will remove it.

Step 6: Initial Inspection — What to Check (15-20 minutes)

Now that the doll is unwrapped, go through a systematic inspection. Work from top to bottom.

Head and Face

• Eyes — are they aligned? Do the eyelids move smoothly?
• Eyebrows and eyelashes — are they intact and glued firmly?
• Makeup / face paint — any smudging or missing detail?
• Mouth — is the oral opening molded correctly?

1. Align the head with the neck bolt. The head should slide on easily — do not force it.
2. Once the bolt is partially threaded, gently turn the head to tighten. Stop when you feel firm resistance. Over-tightening strips the threads or cracks the silicone around the neck.
3. The head should rotate left and right with moderate resistance. If it is too stiff, loosen slightly.

Step 9: Dressing the Doll (5 minutes)

• Wash all new clothing first — dark dyes can transfer to silicone and stain permanently.

"The joints are stiff"

"The surface feels slightly sticky or powdery"
